Soft drinks and low alcohol drinks have experienced a BOOM in terms of Innovation. We have seen crazy proposals coming to the market (Meat Water, Trueblood drink, Kimchi soft drink...).


Even big brands have followed a strategy of launching crazy flavors as a mechanism to generate noise in the industry. One example of this is "Estrella de Galicia", one of the best beers produced in Spain. The brand creates every year one product with a touch of a crazy Galician ingredient/food. So, we could find beer with a touch of octopus, pepper, kale or other ingredients connected to their culture. How many cases of these crazy flavors they sell? Volume is not high but they create lot of conversations in media. Is this strategy helping to reinforce consumers credibility on their innovation? My personal opinion is that this strategy could damage your credibility at innovation, but this is just my opinion as professional.
